The mission of the Gogebic Range Genealogical
Society
is to promote and assist with the research and preservation of genealogy and
family history of the Gogebic Range area. This area encompasses Gogebic County,
Michigan, and Iron County, Wisconsin.
Our genealogical society is dedicated to
helping you find your roots on the Gogebic Range. Our obituary database contains
the names of over 70,000 residents who lived on the Gogebic Range between 1890
and the present. Hundreds of records are being added every month.
Our December 2011 newsletter is now available! Click on
'Newsletters' above!
Note: We are
letting you know that the Northern Waters Genealogical Society, in the county
just south of us, has WONDERFUL monthly speakers about how to research different
topics, and a support system to help you connect to genealogical resources in
the area and on the internet. Their meetings are only an hour drive
southeast of us. Please take a moment to see their highlighted speakers...
you might want to attend!! See their meeting schedules at their website at
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~winwgs/meetings.htm.
Their next
meeting's topic is
"Migration and Immigration of settles to the Great Plains during the last half
of the 19th Century". Presenter Dick Fields. Tues. Feb. 7, 2012,
3-5pm Boulder Junction Community Center.
A note from the President.. Until we are
able to offer more extensive on-site cemetery listings, we ask that you contact
the Gogebic Range Genealogical Society (e-mail or postal mail) for assistance
with cemetery look-ups. We will be glad to help in any way possible.
